The term Consultant is eternally misused in the telecom industry. Ask yourself whose payroll is my consultant on? If they receive a commission from your vendor, you are talking to a sales rep, not a consultant. Guess where that persons loyalties lie? Its their job to sell and that is certainly what they are going to do. A true consultant is on your payroll. An even better consultant will work on a profit-sharing basis. This will ensure you never pay for failed negotiation efforts.
